Gym Sport

For the rest of the children in the senior syndicate that weren't doing kapa haka could choose a group to be as part of.  They were cheer leading, aerobics and hip hop. I was in hip hop.  There was so many kids that wanted to be in hip hop there had to be two teams.  Miss Workman's team and Whaea Tamara's team.  I was in Miss Workman's team.  Our team entered the competition.  Whaea Tamara's team had just had two practices and finished the routine.  Sadly they were too late to enter.  The team I was in competed and came first.  A few days after Mr. Chell told us to write a recount about the day.  I asked him if I could do a haiku about my experience. If you didn't know a haiku has 5 syllables  in the first and last line and 7 syllables in the middle.

My Name Art

In room12 we make class signatures to say that we are part of room 12.  As you can see on my picture we have to write our name clearly so people can read it.  In the spaces we had to draw a picture  of a place or a hobby and it had to be a plain coloured background.
Behind a letter it had to be a pattern or some sort of design.  The letter had to be decorated in some way to make it creative.  As you can see for my decoration I have done bubbles, trees, pencils ect.

2013 so far...

2013 is a new year and I'm back at school as a year 6 but I am still in room 12 with Mrs Parkinson as my teacher.  This year has started well back at school meeting all my friends and doing art work for the class wall and for some books.

 My most favourite thing so far was making two truths and one false.  We had to think of two truths and one false without trying to make it noticeable.  Here are mine.

I have never been to a rugby game

Making softies

For the last two weeks, room 12 were learning how to sew.  We started with a square bit of fabric to practice our knots, going in a straight line, zig zags, spirals and other shapes.  Also we had to have a wrong and a right side so the knots go on the wrong side and it would look beautiful on the right side.

After we thought we had practice enough we moved on to sewing our softies.  Before sewing we had to plan what our softies were going to look like and getting a sample of the fabric we were going to use.

Our softies are cute owls.  We had a template to follow if we wanted but you could make your own design. 

Time to sew our owls.

We started with sewing on the wings.  I was a bit nervous about sewing them on so I kept calling someone over to see if I was doing correct.

Next we sewed on the nose and then the eyes.  You had a choice if you wanted to glue the pupils on or sew the on.

After we had sewed everything on the front we running stitched around the owl with the right sides on the inside and the wrong sides on the outside.

After we would flip it into the right way and stuffed it then we sewed it up with the wipe stitch.
I enjoyed stuffing my owl and getting it finished in time.  Up the top you will see a picture with me and my owl.

The Senior Farm Vist

On Wednesday the 7th of November the senior syndicate went on a farm trip to learn more about our topic paddock to palate.  The part I enjoyed the most was tasting the milk out of the vat.  The part I didn't like was trying not to step in cow poo.  The most interesting thing for me was learning about the silage bails.  This is a photopeach on the farm visit.  Please leave a comment. :)

My Animoto (juggling)

This term room12 is doing juggling.  We started with juggling two balls and before we move onto three we had to juggle sitting on the ground, sitting on a chair, standing up and walking around 1/3 of the basketball court and also try juggle with one hand.  I am still on juggling 2 but I hope to move on with three some time soon.

High Jump

At the start of term 4, for P.E room12 started to do high jump for athletics training. The thing I like about high jump is getting over the pole.  My goal is to try jump 1 metre.  Here is a photo of me doing high jump.

Long 'a' spelling patterns

At the end of term 3 the blends were doing the long 'a' spelling sound.  We had to do a gloster or a wordle.  This is my gloster of the long 'a' sound.

Production

On Wednesday the 12th and Thursday the 13th it was the school production.  The production theme was Colour my World and it was about all the colours in the world disappearing.  I was in the Air scene.

3 things I enjoyed were dancing, watching the bee movie and wearing a cool costume.
2 emotions I felt were nevous and excited on the first night because of all the people but normal on the second night because I had already done it the first night.
1 thing I found challanging was trying not to get pushed around in the wings.

Colour Poem

This is a splice video.  It is about colour poems that room 12 did in week 6.  We had to chose the three best colour poems and then put it on to splice.  This is my end result for my colour poem.

Maori Language Week

In week 2 room 12 celabrated Maori Language week and for one of our activities we had to teach room 5 and room 4 the Maori body song. We also had to make a body quiz.  Thos is how the song goes.

My Discovery Speech on Easter Island

Welcome all.  This is my speech video of the discovery of Easter Island.  Two things I think I did well with are eye contact and a clear voice.
I think I need to work on moving around and more expression.

Room 12's Assembly

 

On Friday the 25th of May room12 shared our learning on remembrance.  The assembly was about three time travellers that found out that two mad scientist had made a time machine.  The time travellers travelled in the time machine on a journey to World War 2 and saw mini skits of what it was like. As you can see at the top of the page there are some pictures of the assembly.
