Gym Sport

For the rest of the children in the senior syndicate that weren't doing kapa haka could choose a group to be as part of.  They were cheer leading, aerobics and hip hop. I was in hip hop.  There was so many kids that wanted to be in hip hop there had to be two teams.  Miss Workman's team and Whaea Tamara's team.  I was in Miss Workman's team.  Our team entered the competition.  Whaea Tamara's team had just had two practices and finished the routine.  Sadly they were too late to enter.  The team I was in competed and came first.  A few days after Mr. Chell told us to write a recount about the day.  I asked him if I could do a haiku about my experience. If you didn't know a haiku has 5 syllables  in the first and last line and 7 syllables in the middle.

Training once a week
Training twice or maybe more
Going through the dance

To get it perfect
The day has finally come
Nearly time to show

Going to the floor
Getting in start positions
Trying to smile

As quick as the start
It ended within a flash
Waiting for results

Hip hop first place is...
Fluro mob from Vardon school
Most kids are happy

Going back to school
Telling people we came first place
So proud and happy

  1. Brooke, I never got to see you compete in the competition, but I did see you perform in the school hall. I was so amazed by your dancing. You have such a great sense of rhythm and your dance moves had me captivated! Well done for coming first, and all the best with your continued practise and performance. You rock!

  3. Hi Brooke,
Wow first place is fantastic! I really like how you shared your experience in a Haiku poem. What did you most enjoy about the hip hop routine and the competition?

    1. Mrs Parkinson,
I most enjoyed doing the flip and the start. At the competition I most enjoy doing the whole routine and coming first place.

      Brooke :)
